Her daughter, Sarah Shun-lien Bynum is a novelist who is on the faculty of Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, teaching writing and literature. Her son, Taylor Ho Bynum, is a jazz composer and musician who gigs in the United States, Europe, and Asia and lives in New Haven, Connecticut.
